Justified June
mastered my reasons
for making time mine
within this season
‘s greetings have shown
that it may be known
that I really know
nothing at all.
For I seek
and I’ll find
what is
almost mine
with my Father’s hands
always holding mine.
Yours He does hold
and I can’t be this bold
without adhering
to what can be
controlled.
He not I
will justify
the rest of June
and all of July.
But there is a day
only known to me
that will be revealed
in your mind and sea-
oceans will rage
unlatching each cage
that clouds
your clarity within
this age.
Sea will meet sky
within each eye
justifying the reason we say
goodbye.

My hands stay busy. They know Labor and do not dismiss their tedious daily tasks. But let me take a minute to open them towards Heaven-the very Heaven that is not as far as many think. You, God, never fail to pour an exceeding amount of strength into my palms when I reach to touch Yours. How could I not spend my time on earth praising You with these hands? You have created them with the faculty to change the world around me. May they continuously embody fulfillment, be prosperous unto everything that they touch, and never grow weary in performing Your works. Lastly, may I remember that the only way to accomplish all of this is to constantly participate in the act of Surrender. I worship you with small hands while you breathe Abundance into my fingertips.

Everyone is sleeping,
Walking around aimlessly,
Until they are targeted.
Why do you let aggression befriend you,
Jumping at the chance to defend what you believe?
People are shouting instead of dancing in the joyousness of spirituality.
They are going to look at you and me next,
Because we are different.
Some try to humiliate and belittle us.
Sure, they are intelligent, educated,
But we have something that they don’t;
We have a relationship with God.
We have been given an ounce of wisdom that some people will never receive.
Whenever I feel small or attacked,
I remember that even the teeniest amount of knowledge given by God
Outweighs the smarts of man.
Keep dancing.

A small tornado reached downtown. I started to receive texts and alarms advising me to take shelter. So, I put my phone aside and reached for my Bible. I very rarely worried about such things and my mom remained calm as well. Amongst the chaos, stirring, and sounds of the storm, I tucked myself back into bed and flipped to a random page in my Bible. I was greeted by a header that read: “No One Can Control The Wind.” How relevant and powerful that was. I rested in that moment. I love when God reveals himself to me, whether it be something big or small. Of course there are people who declare these as mere coincidences, but they don’t understand the feeling of a beaming Spirit. In each affirmation, I find my rest. Sometimes tornadoes happen in our hearts, relationships, and homes as well. Warnings are loud and the ground shakes, but we do not control the wind. Luckily, we can be friends with the One who does. And that right there is why the Bible is the best shelter of them all.
